मानव शरीर में संचरण करने वाला तरल पदार्थ जो शिराओं के द्वारा ह्दय में जमा होता है और धमनियों के द्वारा पुन: ह्दय से संपूर्ण शरीर में परिसंचरित होता है, रक्त कहलाता है।

रक्त के विभिन्न अवयव

(1) प्लाज्मा- यह हल्के पीले रंग का रक्त का तरल भाग होता है, जिसमें 90 फीसदी जल, 8 फीसदी प्रोटीन तथा 1 फीसदी लवण होता है।

(2) लाल रक्त कण- यह गोलाकार, केन्द्रकरहित और हीमोग्लोबिन से युक्त होता है। इसका मुख्य कार्य ऑक्सीजन एवं कार्बन डाईऑक्साइड का संवहन करना है। इसका जीवनकाल 120 दिनों का होता है।

(3) श्वेत रक्त कण- इसमें हीमोग्लोबिन का अभाव पाया जाता है। इसका मुख्य कार्य शरीर की रोगाणुओं से रक्षा के लिए प्रतिरोधक क्षमता बढ़ाना होता है। इनका जीवनकाल 24 से 30 घंटे का होता है।

(4) प्लेट्लेट्स- ये रक्त कोशिकाएं केद्रक रहित एवं अनिश्चित आकार की होती हैं। इनका मुख्य कार्य रक्त को जमने में मदद देना होता है।

रक्त का कार्य-

रक्त का कार्य ऑक्सीजन को फेफड़े से लेकर कोशिकाओं तक तथा कोशिकाओं से कार्बन डाईऑक्साइड को लेकर फेफड़ों तक पहुँचाना होता है। रक्त शरीर के तापक्रम को संतुलित बनाये रखता है। रक्त शरीर में उत्पन्न अपशिष्ट व हानिकारक पदार्र्थों को एकत्रित करके मूत्र तथा पसीने के रूप में शरीर से बाहर पहुँचाने में मदद करता है।

रक्त समूह- रक्त समूह की खोज लैंडस्टीनर ने की थी। रक्त चार प्रकार के होते हैं- A, B, Ab और o।

(1) रक्त समूह AB सर्व प्राप्तकर्ता वर्ग होता है, अर्थात वह किसी भी व्यक्ति का रक्त ग्रहण कर सकता है।

(2) रक्त समूह O सर्वदाता वर्ग होता है। अर्थात वह किसी भी रक्त समूह वाले व्यक्ति को रक्तदान कर सकता है। किंतु वह सिर्फ O समूह वाले व्यक्ति से ही रक्त प्राप्त कर सकता है।

Blood group - was Landsteiner discovered blood groups . There are four blood types - A, B, Ab and o.

( 1 ) Blood group AB is the class of all recipients , meaning that anyone can take the blood .

( 2 ) Blood group O is Srwdata class . That any person can donate blood . But the only person with type O blood can receive .
